Small Vehicle course is required for all drivers who will be driving vehicles with a capacity of less than 16 (including the driver). This includes any district employee that will drive a Car, Mini-van, or SUV's, designed to transport 10 or fewer passengers (including the driver). This includes the school operated Activity Bus drivers. School District 11 students will not be transported in 15 passenger vans.

The prospective driver is required to provide a copy of their Driving Record to Transportation before they are authorized to drive a vehicle caring students. A good rule of thumb is that if a driver has more than 6 points that appear on their driving record it will be difficult for the driver to be approved.

The driving record usually covers citations received for the last 7 years.

District 11 Staff members (including Volunteer Coaches, Substitute teachers, ESP personnel), who drive on an occasional basis will be required to fill out a Volunteer form at the school unless they are on the authorization list provided by Transportation.
