David Morris began his career in School District 11 as an elementary teacher in
August 1999.
David Morris was born in Fullerton (Orange County),
California. He graduated from Marina High School in 1983. David is a 1993
graduate of University of Colorado, where he majored in Geographical Information
Systems with a minor in environmental science. He received a Masters in
Elementary Education at The Colorado College, Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1994
and is currently working toward his Doctor of Philosophy in Educational
Leadership from the University of Denver, Denver, Colorado.
Mr. Morris’ fifteen plus years in education includes
eleven years of classroom teaching in grades 2 through university level in both
public and private schools in Colorado, Kobe-Japan, and Luanda-Angola. He
mentored teacher candidates and taught elementary school children at the
Colorado College Summer Gifted Program for over six years. Mr. Morris co-created
and taught on-line courses for the Gifted Education Specialist Certification at
the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. He spent three years at
District 11 Central Office as the Director of Gifted Education, and three years
as an elementary school principal at Howbert Elementary School.
Mr. Morris’s professional affiliations include the
Colorado Association of School Executives (CASE), Phi Delta Kappa (PDK),
American Association of School Administrators (AASA), and the Association for
Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). Mr. Morris volunteers as an
at-large member of the Rock Ledge Ranch Living History Association Board of
Directors.
David Morris is married to Becca Williams, a
kindergarten teacher at Stratton Elementary School in Colorado Springs. They
have two daughters, Brynn Linnea 2 years old, and Ava Noel 4 months young.
