Trailblazer Elementary is now in it’s twelfth year.  Built in 1998 against the foothills in northwest Colorado Springs, it is a school-community that shares a common vision; where students and teachers are the heartbeat of our success.  At Trailblazer, we provide an environment that encourages students to be successful, and feel valued and accepted.  Our school is a place where everyone comes together to promote learning.

The focus of our dedicated Trailblazer Staff is to bring students together to build a learning community, to bring the curriculum together to achieve coherence, and to bring resources together to enrich our climate so that our students become knowledgeable, successful and socially responsible citizens.  Trailblazer is a great place to be!  Please come visit, we welcome you!

Successory Cards

The Successory Card contains your students’ name and space for a personal message from you. The message can be of a personal, academic, or social nature rewarding and praising your child for a job or deed well done. The principal will announce your child’s name during morning announcements, as being a “Successory Card” receiver, and then personally delivers the message you have written to your child.
The Cards are located in the office, and can be purchased for 50 cents apiece. Please stop by and fill out a card or two.
Thank you for participating in and supporting such a wonderful program designed to bolster confidence and reward successful events in your child’s life!

Safety Policies

Safety is on all of our minds, and we ask that you remember to follow these policies. They are in place for the protection of all our students, staff, and visitors.

#  ALL visitors/volunteers must check in at the office before proceeding to a classroom.

#  ALL visitors/volunteers must wear an identification sticker while in our school. These stickers must be visible at all times.

#  We welcome all volunteers. We do ask, however, that you do not bring younger siblings when volunteering as it is a distraction to our instructional time and a safety issue for the younger sibling.

#  When taking a student out of school early, you must come into the office and sign them out. At that time, the student will be called to the office and released from school. No student will be released from the classroom unless the teacher has received notification from the office.

#  Students are not to be dropped off before 7:45 a.m., unless they are involved in a school-sponsored activity. There is no outside supervision until 7:45 a.m.

#  If parents come to school to get their student(s) at regular dismissal time, we ask that you wait outside your student’s exit door and not in the pods or corridors.

#  For the safety of our students, staff, and visitors, the front doors are locked 24 hours, 7 days a week. Easy-to-follow directions on how to gain access into the building, during school hours, are posted on the front door.

As a staff, we will continue to reassure our students that our school is a safe place to be. Please observe our policies and help us keep our children safe and secure!

Parking Lot Safety Issues
Upon entering the parking lot, PLEASE observe all posted signs and marked parking spaces. Note that the curb area in front of the kindergarten playground is a drop off point only. It is strictly a NO PARKING AREA, which means the driver may not leave the vehicle or remain in this space for any length of time. Also, please do not leave small children in your vehicle if you leave it to take your child to their classroom.

Toys and Other Personal Items at School
Students are
not allowed to bring toys, of any kind, to school as they distract from the educational process. Cell phones must turned off and remain in the student’s backpack during the day. Any toys or other personal items brought to school will be taken from the student and returned only to the student’s parent by the principal.

Yellow Flag Procedure

Trailblazer will have a yellow flag procedure in place on days when the wind chill temperature is below 20 degrees, or when there is heavy precipitation.
At the front and side entrances there will be yellow flags to indicate to students that they may go into their classrooms at 7:45 a.m. Students may use the front entrance to enter the building on yellow flag days only. Teachers will be in their classrooms to supervise.
