From the Superintendent

Dear School District 11 Community,

As the new superintendent of schools in School District 11, I am excited about the direction our district is taking and all of the outstanding programs.  Everyone involved in our district, from students and staff to administrators and the Board of Education, is excited about all the positive academic success taking place in our schools and the direction in which we are moving.

We have adopted a new vision, mission and goals for the district, along with belief statements, values and guiding principles.  Our district will utilize its strengths to get the work done and done right.  My promise to you is that you will see evidence of our staff utilizing their talents to make good things happen for all our stakeholders-students, parents, community and other staff members.

Technology, media and globalization mean a world changing at an unprecedented pace – and in ways it never has before.  Vast amounts of information are rapidly and readily available; automation and digitization are increasing; global mobility and competition are on the rise; social, political and economic landscapes are shifting dramatically.  Tomorrow is an era of new industries and a more demanding workplace; in fact, when our current school-age children move into the workforce, many will enter jobs yet to be established or even envisioned.

District 11 must meet the demands of today and foresee the demands of the future.  Not only does our children’s potential depend on it; the well-being and viability of our city – our entire community, in fact – hinge on our ability to do so.  Our mission is to provide excellent, distinctive educational experiences that equip students for success today and in the future.

Colorado Springs School District 11 is meeting the demands of the 21st century by preparing our students for a world yet to be imagined. Our talented, award-winning staff and educational programs drive exceptional academic preparation for our students – preschool through adult education.  Our focus on cultural competency and civic responsibility equips students to navigate and influence a shifting world.  Our innovative programs generate class after class of inventive problem-solvers, practiced communicators, skilled collaborators and expert users of technology.

Please feel free to contact me at any time.  You may send me an e-mail at nicholas.gledich@d11.org or call my office at 520-2001.  I look forward to hearing from you.
