Ms. Williams’ & Mrs. Hart’s Kindergarten Class:

In literacy, we are looking at the themes of animals and related topics.  There is a focus on asking questions for comprehension, comparing and contrasting, and distinguishing between fantasy and reality.  We will be working with he, she, has, and look as new high frequency words.   In writing, we will focus on creating writing webs and using them to compose sentences.  We will focus on writing in our best handwriting and writing more than three sentences or more from our webs.

In math, we continue to create and explain complex patterns, read, create and interpret bar and picture graphs, apply and communicate a strategy using probability and statistics to solve math problems, sort and classify objects (i.e., color, size, shape, use), recognize, name, draw and build 2-dimensional shapes, sort shapes by attributes, demonstrate understanding of attributes of length and weight by measuring with nonstandard units, and apply and communicate a strategy using measurement techniques to solve problems.

In science, we have another trip to Starsmore Discovery Center and continue learning about our environment and how we interact with it.

In social studies, we are revisiting ITI lifelong guidelines and life skills of active listening, caring, cooperation, effort, and personal best. Australia also continues to be our country of comparison.
