What an amazing month April was for us in the 4th
and 5th
Grade combo class. We covered a ton of ground this month and here’s
a glimpse of what we did:
Completed two enormous projects: independent
research projects and science fair. Both went very well! Just as
we wrapped up old projects, we began a few new ones…Social Studies
projects: the 5th graders are near completion of their
Revolutionary War period newspapers. Taylor
N. and Michael H.
titled their newspaper,
The Present Truth.
Stephen Z. and Luke I.
titled theirs
The Philadelphia Journal. Ryan
D. and Alex B.
created
The Poor Man’s Shield.
Owen C. and Connor S.
made
Across the Colonies. Just to name a few!
The fourth grade students completed their awesome murals of Mesa
Verde. I know the 4th
grade class is super excited about our Southwest Colorado trip at
the end of April. We’ve spent a good three weeks reading and writing
poetry. We’re currently compiling our very best poems and
illustrations into a class poetry book. Lastly, in all of my years
of teaching, I cannot think of a more profoundly touching experience
than that of April 4th, 2008. That was the night twenty-four of us
shaved our heads for the St. Baldrick’s foundation. We raised
exactly $2,148 toward childhood cancer research. I cannot give a
big enough thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and
supported this event.
