The
United Steele Workers (USW) is the name for the Parent-Teacher Association
(PTA) at Steele. The group serves as the coordination mechanism for
school-wide (not classroom) volunteers, fundraising, and enrichment.
Raising money to provide the extras that are not funded by District 11 is
another task of the USW. During the year you will be asked to
purchase grocery and shopping coupons and other items that support
classroom projects. These activities will be balanced over the
course of the year. Please look at your budget and make a line for
Steele. All participation is appreciated.
Most meetings are on the second Tuesday of each month in the school
library. Please check the calendar
for exact meeting dates. All meetings begin at 3:30 PM , and you are
invited! We will post agendas and minutes on the bulletin board in
the hallway at Steele. We will also distribute them directly via
email.
The bottom line is we are here to make the job of educating our children
more effective for the professional teachers and staff who are being paid
by our tax dollars. Whether it's providing filled backpacks to new
arrivals at the school who are in need of supplies, or sitting on a
committee to discuss achievement or accountability, the USW can be a forum
for your concerns. You can always contact us, ask questions or add
agenda items by writing to United
Steele Workers
Thanks, and we hope to see you at the meetings.
