Ms. McDade "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you"

Ms. McDade has taught Math and Social Studies at Spring Creek since August 2006, and she keeps our library up to date too.  She also teaches Math at Pikes Peak Community College.  Previously, she taught:

  • Language Arts at Mitchell High School

  • Math, Language Arts, and Geography at Russell Middle School

  • Math and Language Arts at North Middle School

  • Math at Doherty High School

  • Math, Reading, and P.E. at Eagleview Middle School (District 20)

  • Math and Physical Science at Glen Burnie High School (Maryland)

  • Math at Odenton Middle School (Maryland)

  • Math at Chesapeake College (Maryland) and

  • Math, Language Arts, and Social Studies at Rock Hall Middle School (Maryland)

Her biography is included in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and Who’s Who Among American Women.  In 1996, she was among a select group of educators who attended the Summer Teacher Enhancement Program at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

Ms. McDade has traveled through the forty-eight contiguous states, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and Israel.  Her family has hosted exchange students from Indonesia, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, and Panama.  Additionally, her son was an exchange student to Australia, and her daughter to Germany.

Her two favorite places that she has traveled to have been Australia and Israel.  She went to Australia because her son was an exchange student there.  She enjoyed Australia a lot and managed to see Brisbane, Rock Hampton, Canarvion Gorge and Tenterfield.  She went camping and met tons of people.  And she saw a bunch of Kangaroos and Koalas =].  Click on the thumbnails below to see some cool pictures....

Her trip to Israel was also very exciting.  She traveled there because of her religious beliefs and she learned a lot.  She visited a lot of historic places, and luckily, was on a tour bus the whole time because the streets are super crowded.  The background that you see is a picture of one of Israel's cities.

The following is a little tidbit of what Ms. McDade does here at Spring Creek:

Currently, Ms. McDade is teaching probability and statistics in her Math class.  They started out with rolling dice, and worked their way to applying their current studies to real life in talking about automobile insurance, for instance.  So for all of us teens that wonder why our auto insurance is so much higher than that of the adults in our lives.... we're more likely to get in an accident that the adults =].

In her Social Studies classes, Ms. McDade and her students study current events.  This way, instead of just picking one sub subject of Social Studies, she is able to integrate Geography, History, Politics, Psychology, Sociology and many more subjects into one class.

FROM THE MAKER OF THIS PAGE:  I personally don't have Ms. McDade as a teacher, but I've been at Spring Creek for a while, and everything that I've seen from Ms. McDade has been awesome.  Every time I see her, she has a smile on her face.  She is always positive with her students and rewards and recognizes them for their accomplishments.  She seems very supportive and helpful to her students.  I talked to her so that I could put some cool things on her page, and I loved our conversation.  She's done some amazing things that I would someday like to do, and she just helped me along with that.  THANK YOU MS. McDADE!
