Ms. Currier teaches Vocational Education Machine Embroidery and Specialized Reading here at Spring Creek. She taught for two years to fourth graders when she lived in California, and she has been at Spring Creek since September of 2001. She choose to work at Spring Creek with at-risk youth because she feels that they appreciate what they have learned and accomplished and caught on to more than non-at-risk youths. She says that she knows she can't help everyone, but knowing that one person has enjoyed her class or felt better about their reading makes her day. She knows that she is here for a purpose when she sees the looks on her student's faces when they learn a new word or finish a project that they have been working on. She is very devoted to her students and to her work. The pictures below are of some students working and a couple of finished projects: For nine months in the years of 1974-1975, she, her husband, and another family traveled the United States and visited 42 of the 50 states. Part of the reason for going on that trip was just to travel and have fun, but the other part is that she and her husband wanted to find a new place to live. At this time, they lived in California. On their trip, they experienced Colorado and fell in love with it. Soon after, they relocated to Colorado and have been living here for 30 years. The pictures below were not taken on Ms. Currier's trip, however, they do represent the trip itself and the things that she might have experienced on it: In addition to everything mentioned above, Ms. Currier likes to garden, read, quilt, and walk around to enjoy Colorado's environment. She loves to do any kind of craft, really, and she's great at teaching them. She had two grown children, three grandchildren and plenty of nieces and nephews. She describes her favorite place as "a sandy beach with waves breaking within inches of my feet, a warm breeze and dolphins out on the sea."
