Five Compelling Reasons to Attend Vera G. Scott Elementary

1. The National Parent Teacher Association recognizes Scott as Colorado Springs' first "National Parent Involvement School of Excellence" for our tradition of award winning Parent/Teacher teamwork involving over 200 parent volunteers, communication with stakeholders and a strong community outreach program.

2. We point with pride to our faculty of caring, dedicated, master teachers who specialize in fostering "transitional parent involvement" in primary grades and "parent/teacher teams" in our intermediate grades to maximize student growth and high academic skills through our home/school connection.

3. Scott is a literacy-based school whose instructional programs are aligned across and within grades using continually evaluated curriculum maps. Instruction is delivered to students through small group lessons, differentiated by skill levels which fosters increased student achievement, stronger performance on standardized tests and an Excellent ranking on the Colorado State Report Card.

4. Vera G. Scott's library is a "Colorado High Performance Power Library" recognized by the State Department of Education for effective, instruction-driven, student involved research projects, total student access, full service, motivational reading programs and extensive student-friendly technology. The library is the heart of literacy education.

5. Vera G. Scott Elementary takes pride in our stellar Fine Arts program, state recognized award winning choir, vocal music programs, band, orchestra, art curriculum and shows, exemplary intramural sports program and numerous clubs.
