MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL:
Helen Hunt has a diverse student body committed to
learning to read, write, solve math
problems and get ready for the next grade. Our
staff teaches a literature-rich curriculum that develops each student’s
potential to read on grade level. Science, Social
Studies, and Health are integrated in the Writing Block.
We
are a School-wide Title 1 program which incorporates the District 11 goals
from the Superintendent and the Board of Education:
- Each student attending District No. 11 schools for
three or more years will meet or exceed the District Content Standards at
a developmentally appropriate level.
- Students will demonstrate quality citizenship and
workplace skills.
The Helen Hunt staff is dedicated to Continuous Quality Improvement using
the Malcolm Baldrige model. In recognition of this effort to continually
improve, Helen Hunt received the Better Business Bureau award for Excellence
in Customer Service.
As part of Helen Hunt’s Continuous Quality Improvement focus, students
and teachers work together to set goals that expect each and every Helen
Hunt student to work towards proficiency in reading, writing, and math. At
Helen Hunt, we have high expectations for ALL students.
Our school includes a range of educational opportunities for our
community: Adult Education, Even Start, preschool, GED classes, and our
K-5CQI program.
The Helen Hunt school community includes many of our students’ extended
family members; we welcome parents and grandparents as well as other family
members.
Helen Hunt
offers a variety of after-school activities designed to provide enrichment
activities for our students. Activities include Boy Scouts, Student
Council, tutoring, Roots and Shoots, Homework Club, Japanese Class and
Soccer Club.
