Saintly Student Successes

Young Peoples Art Exhibition:

Six students were chosen to represent Sabin at the 2009 Young Peoples Art Exhibition:  Jessica Birkelo, Lindsay Perales, Michael Jameson, Skye Jimenez, Keawa Rozet, and Stacie Smith.

Besides it being a great honor for these students to be chosen for the show, 4 of our students placed within their category.  Jessica Birkelo took 1st place in the Mixed-Media Category and Skye Jimenez took 3rd place in the Painting, Water Media category.  The highest placings in the show were claimed by Michael Jameson as the 2-dimensional “Best of Show,” and Lindsay Perales as the 3-dimensional “Best of Show.”

Congratulations to This Year’s CYCA Winners

School District 11 congratulates this year’s Colorado Youth Citizenship Award (CYCA) winners! CYCA honors outstanding middle school students in the belief that responsible citizenship should be recognized and encouraged early. The middle school winners were selected because of outstanding citizenship, high personal and social standards, reliability, acceptance of responsibility and service.

The program is sponsored and supported by the North Colorado Springs Rotary Club, all D-11 middle schools, the D-11 GO Club and Walsworth Publishing Company.

Sabin's district winners are Jessica Birkelo and Macy Myers and the school winners are Sara Coll, Tara DiFazio and Leilani Gray.

Sabin Middle School student Noah Barrett won second place in the Hockey Weekend Across America essay contest sponsored annually by USA Hockey. This year’s theme was My Hockey Hero, and Noah wrote about his father.

The following students are all semi-finalists for 2009, with the 3 school winners and 2 district winners being announced on March 6, 2009.  Congratulations to all of our outstanding young men and women!
