A school's
Building
Advisory
Accountability
Committee (BAAC)
gives parents
and community
members the
opportunity to
work in
partnership with
the principal
and staff to
improve the
quality of
education at
their school.
-
-
The BAAC is an
appointed
committee which
represents the
viewpoint of the
school
community-at-large.
It is made up of
the following
constituents:
-
-
· *Parents
of children
currently
enrolled at
Sabin Middle
School
-
· *At
least one
community member
with no children
enrolled in
District Eleven
schools
-
· *Sabin
principal and/or
assistant
principal
-
· *school
staff
represented by
at least one
teacher from
each grade level
and an
exploratory
teacher
-
Terms of
membership are
one to two
years. Each
spring, new
BAAC members
will be
solicited
through a
request in the
school's
newsletter.
Every effort
is made to
solicit
members whose
ethnicity and
gender closely
reflect the
composition of
Sabin's
student body.
The overall
purpose of the
school
accountability
process is the
improvement of
student
achievement.
To that end,
the Sabin
Advisory
Accountability
Committee has
established
the following
goals:
-
-
· *to
help Sabin
improve the
educational
opportunities
and performance
results for
students
-
· *to
develop and
maintain a
school and
community
partnership for
the ongoing
improvement of
public
education
-
· *to
ensure equal
access to
educational
opportunities
for every
student
-
· *to
review student
performance and
achievement
-
· *to
assist in
reporting
achievement
information to
the community
-
· *to
work with the
principal and
community
members in a
positive working
relationship to
develop,
improve,
implement, and
review the
annual School
Improvement Plan
(SIP).
