Something to think about:  ARE YOU A PLAGIARIZERDo you know how plagiarism and copyright laws work together?

To plagiarize is not just copying someone else's writing or homework.   Plagiarizers copy artistic work of other people without citing or paying (music, dvds or videos, games, poems, stories, newspaper articles, etc).
If you copy all or part of someone else's words, you need to put it in quotes, and give credit to the author/artist!   Some synonyms of plagiarize: steal, pirate, crib, copy without permission (even if you bought the original and then make copies for other people!)

What about downloading music?   Remember, if it were your songs, how would you feel if people were stealing them and not paying you?  There ARE sites that have free, legal downloads, which is OK.

What about COPYRIGHT laws?  These are the laws that are broken when someone plagiarizes someone else's work.  To find out more, check out Copyrightkids.org!  Take the quiz, and see how you do!
