This page was created by a student in the web design class. The purpose was to create a web page, giving advice to an incoming 6th grade student. ~Lockers~
When you come to a new school a lot of things seem scary. The thing that I was scared the most about was the lockers. First how am I supposed to memorize a big huge combo without losing it or forgetting it? Or how will you get in there and get your stuff and still not be late for class, or maybe how will you know which locker is yours? Well, there was a lot of problems running through my mind, and I'll tell you what is true and what isn't. All the teachers say not to lose your combination or someone will know your combo and steal all of your stuff. Well this is true because some people are mean. What I did and suggest to you is that when you get your combination write it one piece of paper and your locker number on another piece of paper and put them in two different places. That way, if you lose one, then they wouldn't know what locker the combination goes to. Then you hear all the tales that a six grader was minding his own business and all of the sudden a big eighth grader shoved him in his own locker. This one isn't true. For one, 8th graders aren't that big and scary. Some 6th and 7th graders are the same size. Also, 8th graders aren't that mean. If you don't bother them, they won't bother you. They will most likely be with their friends anyway. Last but not least, the lockers are defiantly not big enough for anyone to fit in, especially to be shoved in. I know that some small kids have fit in their locker. For instance, I even tried in sixth grade, but being pushed in wouldn't work; it's just to small.
Now onto combinations. If you are thinking that you can't memorize a huge combination, then you are wrong. First these so-called huge combinations are only 3 numbers ranging from 0-49. You could get 15-35-2, for instance. It's not that hard to memorize those three numbers. If it is, and it will be the first week or so, find a way to remember it. Some are easy like 0-14-0. You could remember that there are two of the same number, and then a 14 in the middle. Their are like a million ways to try to remember it, like connecting it to phone numbers like it or any thing like that.
To open your locker, you have to turn it left, then right, then left. If your combo was 0-14-0, for instance, you would turn it left to the 0, and then turn it right, past the number 14 once and stop on it the second time, and then go left strait to the 0. You always go past the 2nd number. Another myth about lockers is that if you push a little button inside and do another comboination while pushing it, you will change your whole combination. It doesn't work. The only way you can change your combo is if the office people do it, and you will most likely have to pay some money to do that. One thing that you shouldn't do is give your locker combo. to anyone. I know that you may want to, and I did. But what if you and that person became enemies the next week? They could steel stuff and ruin stuff, and then the only thing you could do would be to pay your hard earned cash for a new combination. That means no new clothes or candy that week. By:Jenny W.
