Dress Code

Sabin takes pride in the appearance of our students.  Students are expected to dress and groom themselves appropriately in clothes that are suitable for school activities.  Clothing which disrupts the learning environment will not be tolerated.   Students in violation of the dress code will be asked to change or have parents bring appropriate clothes to school.  Permission for the student to walk home and change may also be requested.  Students must remain in the office area until the dress code violation is corrected.

  • State health law requires that shoes be worn in all public buildings.

  • Clothes such as short shirts, halters, midriffs, spandex, excessively torn clothing, net shirts, pajama bottoms, and sagging pants are weekend wear or play wear.  They are not appropriate for the business-like atmosphere of school.

  • Sagging pants are not appropriate at school, belts are highly recommended.

  • Tank tops for either girls or boys are not allowed; sleeveless shirts are permitted.

  • Shirts must be long enough to be tucked in and no longer than mid thigh.

  • Shorts and skirts must be at least mid-thigh in length.

  • T-shirt messages must be completely inoffensive.  Shirts that advertise drugs, alcohol, or that are sexually offensive will not be allowed.

  • Excessive piercing or make-up will not be allowed and is at the discretion of the administrative staff.

  • Students may not wear clothing styles suggestive of gang or cult membership.  Any clothing that can be associated with delinquent, criminal or anti-social conduct will be disallowed.  Excessive Gothic make-up is unacceptable.
