The board is committed to the creation of an atmosphere in schools which is
safe, conducive to the learning process, and free from unnecessary
disruption. Disciplinary infractions lead
to disciplinary action.
Board Policy states that students are expected to obey the following rules of
conduct:
- act in a manner that maximizes the substantial benefits of public
education
- accept responsibility for their own behavior
- develop and use problem-solving skills to resolve conflicts
- follow established
District, school and classroom rules
- maintain academic integrity
- refrain from interfering with learning and teaching
- maintain appropriate dress and hygiene
- respect others
- respect the rights and property of others
- refrain from harming themselves or others
- refrain from acting in such a manner as to expose others to risk or danger
of harm or injury
- not use threats or intimidation against others
- not engage in unlawful or immoral activities
- refrain from carrying, bringing, using or possessing any weapon or weapon
facsimile in or on District property.
Sabin Middle School has adopted the Boys Town model of discipline, which
emphasizes teaching social skills that will enhance positive student behavior.
