Awards and Recognition

Teams have many recognition programs and incentives in place so that students are rewarded for their achievements and accomplishments. Administrators give Positive Referrals to students upon the recommendation of teachers during the lunch periods. The Sabin Stars program recognizes students quarterly for their academic effort, citizenship and leadership qualities. An Academic Award Night is held at the end of the year to honor students for their academic achievements. All school wide student recognition programs will be announced in the newsletter. If a student is recognized for participating in an activity or contest outside of school, feel free to notify the head secretary so that the information may be included in the newsletter.

Staff Achievements

2008 Michael Butler, 8th grade Social Studies teacher, is a 2008 Crystal Apple Teacher Award recipient.
2005-06 - Michael Butler selected for inclusion in the National Honor Roll’s Outstanding American Teachers
2006 - Michael Butler inducted into School District # 11’s Russell Middle School Wall of Fame

The following teachers where nominated for the Disney award in 2006: Paul Kaufer, Andrew Cazier, Melanyee Finch, Scott White, and Diana Lopez

Rose DiCenso, 8th grade science teacher, was a 2006 Crystal Apple Teacher Award Nominee and will be honored at a banquet on May 9th.

Marsha West has been recognized by Who's Who Among Teachers three times 2004-2006.

Tara Sauvain has been recognized by Who's Who Among Teachers 2006.

Mrs. Henderson was nominated for inclusion in the 10th edition of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and also selected for inclusion in the premier edition of the National Honor Ross’ Outstanding American Teachers 2005/2006

Rose DiCenso has been recognized by Who's Who Among Teachers and has been selected as one of the two individuals to receive the CAST Middle School Science Teacher Award for 2004.
