Attendance
| |
It is the responsibility of the parent to notify school
officials in writing or by telephone stating the reason before a student's
absence. Between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 8:00 A.M. you will reach an
answering machine. At the end of the message and the sound of the tone,
please give your child's first and last name (please spell the last name
slowly) so we can accurately make the computer entry for the date of the
absence. This recording will excuse only those absences for the current or
proceeding day. When parents fail to notify the school within 2 days the
absence will be recorded as unexcused or truant.
Depending upon the type of absence, the student's grade could
be effected.
To report an absence, please call
our 24-hour answering machine at 328-7035.
It is the responsibility of the student to
request make-up work for any short absence. Failure to
complete a make-up assignment in the designated time may result in a
lower grade. Parents may call the main office or the attendance
automated line at 328-7035 to make arrangements to pick up work for
absences longer than two days. Students normally are allowed one
day to complete make-up assignments for each day the student was absent,
unless the team of teachers agrees to extend this time. |

Appointments/Prearranged Absences
|
|
A note in the Main office will release a student for
an appointment. Students who leave school without signing out
through the Main office will be counted truant from class. Parents
may also sign out students personally. Only parents and designated family
members may pick up students. An ID may be asked for as proof of
identity. An ID may be asked for as proof of identity. Any student who must be gone during the regularly
scheduled school year must prearrange the absence through a written
request at least three days in advance stating dates the student will be
absent. Students are responsible for arranging for assignments
missed during a prearranged absence. School administrators have the
discretion to not approve a pre-arranged absence if the length of the
absence causes the student to miss too much school.
