Third Quarter Art
Three Dimensional Art
| Sixth Grade: For our third project of the quarter, we have constructed marvelous dancers. These were varied, being tall or short, thin or fat, like us. And, like us, they fit together. We only used wire skeletons and plaster strips to create these wild dancers. –Written by Gary Koontz | ![]() |
| Seventh Grade: In our last project we did self-portraits in clay. First, we had to do sketches of what described up the best. Then, we got clay and carved and glazed the projects. The result was an array of individual tiles showing our individual personalities. | ![]() |
| Eighth Grade: The 8th grade class recently completed a printmaking project. The focus of the project was printing on different materials like waxed paper and tissue paper. Students then made a book in which to display their art. | ![]() |
Two Dimensional Art
| Sixth Grade: After several days of working on a drawing unit, 6th graders switched gears to create a hidden drawing. Student chose a simple theme to draw, then worked hard at disguising their drawings with “tracer blobs”. The results were intricate patterns hiding an image of their choice. Can you pick out the image in this picture? | ![]() |
| Seventh Grade: 7th graders moved on from the drawing unit to work on an initial design. Using the elements of design, they drew their initials in an interesting sketch and worked to create a repeated, mirrored image. The finished image resulted in colorful, unique works of art that are unique to each individual student. | ![]() |
| Eighth Grade: 8th grade students also worked on a design after their drawing unit. For this design, students had to create an image that was a close up of a human face. The students then had to problem solve and figure out at least 5 different patterns that could transform and fuse their design into equal amount of positive and negative space. | ![]() |
