Our Mascot the Saint Bernard

The Saint Bernard has typically been known as a large mountain rescue dog.  With its courage and intelligence, it has saved many lives in the Swiss Alps.  Today, it is known as a gentle family dog who is trustworthy and friendly with a big heart.  It is also widely known to be a good protector.  At Sabin, we encourage the students and staff to possess these qualities, thus the Saint Bernard is the perfect mascot.

In front of our building stands a metal statue of a St. Bernard.  To many, it has long been a mystery.  Who is responsible for this work of art.  When was it created?  It was built in 1986 by the students in the metals shop class.  Each boy and girl cut out a piece of metal to contribute to this enormous statue. If you look closely you can see some names and comments by the students on these pieces of metal.  It is rumored to contain a time capsule, but it is simply untrue.
