School Accountability Committee (SAC)

A School's Accountability Committee (SAC) gives parents and community members the opportunity to work in partnership with the principal and staff to improve the quality of education at their school.

The SAC is an appointed committee which represents the viewpoint of the school community-at-large.  It is made up of the following constituents:

· Parents of children currently enrolled at Sabin Middle School

· At least one community member with no children enrolled in District Eleven schools

· Sabin principal and/or assistant principal

· and school staff represented by at least one teacher from each grade level and an exploratory  teacher

Terms of membership are one to two years.  Each spring, new SAC members will be solicited through a request in the school's newsletter.  Every effort is made to solicit members whose ethnicity and gender closely reflect the composition of Sabin's student body. The overall purpose of the school accountability process is the improvement of student achievement.  To that end, the Sabin Advisory Accountability Committee has established the following goals:

· to help Sabin improve the educational opportunities and performance results for students

· to develop and maintain a school and community partnership for the ongoing improvement of public    education

· to ensure equal access to educational opportunities for every student

· to review student performance and achievement

· to assist in reporting achievement information to the community

· to work with the principal and community members in a positive working relationship to develop, improve, implement, and review the annual School Improvement Plan (SIP).

If you are interested in serving on Sabin’s SAC please feel free to contact Mrs. Sherry Kalbach, Principal, 328-7002 or Mr. Mike McDowell, Assistant Principal, 328-7003.

ATTENDANCE LINE
328-7035
Please call the 24-hour attendance line the same day your child is late or absent.

With the start of the new year, we are asking parents to please call directly to the Attendance Line when reporting absences.  Early in the morning, particularly, when we are inundated with calls, it will help you to direct dial, making your call quicker, and it will help us to free up the switchboard.  The attendance line recording is 328-7035.  Also, if your student will be absent or late due to an appointment, please bring a note from your physician or dentist excusing their absence.

Curriculum & 21st Century Learning

To meet the needs of our future graduates in these Rapidly Changing Times, we are developing 21st century learning experiences in a guaranteed and viable curriculum. It is accessible by students, parents, teachers administrators and support staff 24/7. As you look through the course content for various grade levels, you will find electronic resources, digitized instructional videos, review games, and other supports for the variety of student interests and skill levels we find in our classrooms today. Parents will find helpful hints and strategies to support and extend learning opportunities at home. Our curriculum is aligned to support the Profile of a District 11 Graduate.
