~ our staff Ø the RMS staff performs as a highly competent and qualified teaching team Ø every certificated staff member has met qualifications as a Highly Qualified Teacher under the requirements of the federal No Child Left Behind legislation Ø of our 55 certificated staff members, 29 possess a Master’s Degree or higher and 26 possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher Ø our teaching staff, collectively, have achieved more than 789 years of experience in educating young people; they are true professionals, averaging almost 15 years experience in the classroom
~ our achievement Ø RMS students achieved “new high scores” in Reading, Math, and Writing as measured by CSAP, 2006 (composite scores for 6th,7th, & 8th grades) Ø our Russell School Accountability Report (SAR), published annually by the Colorado Department of Education, ranks Russell as an “Improved” schoolØ our Gifted and Talented program, Advanced Proficiency by Design (APxD), along with advanced classes in Reading, Language Arts, Math, & Science provide quality learning experiences for our many above-grade-level learners Ø our full program of research-based intervention classes in Reading & Math provide critical academic support for students who have not yet scored proficient in these areas
~ our top-notch curricula and programming
Ø RMS offers an amazing variety of exploratory opportunities for our middle level students, including: art, band, choir, computers, jazz band, show choirs, dance, drama, forensics, orchestra, piano lab, physical education, Spanish, SuccessMaker Math, SuccessMaker Reading, and yearbook. Ø In fall, 2006, we have debuted our new Gateway to Technology lab, featuring pre-engineering classes aligned to the high school Pathway to Engineering program
~ our beautiful building
Ø our custodial tech team is the best in School District 11; they keep our 35 year-old building sparkling and in top physical shape Ø our RMS building manager, Ms. Carol Swaniga, has worked at RMS for more than 27 years, her assistant building manager, Sam Flowers, has worked in district #11 for 24 years Ø our building, the second-largest middle school in District 11, features wide, open hallways and numerous amenities, including a Yamaha Piano Lab and a beautiful, spacious dance studio Ø we are especially proud, this year, to debut in our building: -a spectacular new hardwood gym floor -new Gateway to Technology lab -our beautifully remodeled RMS Library/Media center -new fire and security system -recently updated sewer system -a refreshing newly-planted RMS garden (provided by our PTSA) -parking lot improvements Ø Thank You, Voters of School District 11!
