R.E.A.C.H. at Russell!

2008-2009

All of the REACH clubs serve to provide student members with a fun club experience as well as to promote a positive atmosphere here at Russell. Thanks to the positive reinforcement generated by the various clubs, Russell students are motivated to bring up their grades, try for those “high 5’s” (top citizenship marks), practice regular attendance (including no tardies) and personally work to raise the morale of their classmates and even of the adults with whom they share their school day.

R.E.A.C.H. stands for: “Reaching for Excellence in Attitude, Cooperation and Honors.”

Following is a listing of the various REACH clubs:

Raider of the Month Staff Member of the Month: This club encourages students and staff to nominate anyone who has earned just a little extra appreciation. Names are drawn each month and prizes awarded. Sponsors: Mrs. North and Mrs. Stromer

Staff Recognition: This group exudes kindness and crafty ability as they create all kinds of little gifts that bring smiles to the teachers and staff. These students reach beyond themselves with little crafts they give as gifts to the adults who work so hard here at Russell every day, and we think they have fun in the process! Sponsor: Mrs. Terral

Posters: Students’ names are brightly displayed for such accomplishments as having a good GPA, having High 5’s or for BUGS (Bringing Up Grades). Sponsors: Mrs. Funk and Mrs. Estevez

Rockin’ Raider Reward: This club will solicit nominations for “outstanding Russell student of the month.” Russell students will be offered the opportunity each month to write a persuasive paragraph recommending a fellow student for exceptional attitude or contribution to our school, and these club members will read all about the nominees and choose one winner each month. That winner will be honored and rewarded. Sponsors: Ms. Dei and Mrs. Pope

REACH Reporters: This group documents all of the positive REACH club activities in each issue of the Russell newsletter. Sponsor: Mr. Martin

Welcome: We can all remember being in situations when we were “the new kid on the block” and how uncomfortable that can be! This team helps new students in the adjustment process when they arrive here at Russell mid‑year. Sponsor: Mrs. Hauschild

Perfect Attendance: This is the group that sees to it that students are rewarded for being in class every day and getting there on time! Some of the prizes are pretty impressive, well worth the effort it takes to make good attendance a priority. Sponsor: Mrs. Schroeder

REACH Assemblies: This is the group that stages a blow-out celebration in the gym. The whole school comes together to recognize the “excellence in attitude, cooperation and honors” that happens all year thanks to the great student body and staff here at Russell. Sponsor: Ms. Cushing
