Physical Education

Standards K-5

District 11 Content Standard I: “Students demonstrate skills in a variety of physical activities and sports.”
Colorado Content Standard I: “Students will be able to demonstrate competent skills in a variety of physical activities and sports.”

Each Student will be able to:

·Perform basic locomotor skills
·Perform basic object manipulation skills
·Exhibit spatial awareness, knows personal boundaries

District 11 Content Standard II: “Students demonstrate knowledge of physical fitness.”
Colorado Content Standard III:
“students demonstrate the knowledge of factors important to participation in physical activity.”

Each Student will be able to:

· Move gracefully through out the gym setting
· Apply basic locomotor skills in a variety of different activities and games
· Understand cardiovascular and muscular endurance

District 11 Content Standard III: “Students participate in guided and self-directed physical activities during physical education classes, thereby encouraging continued participation in physical activities.”
Colorado Content Standard II:
“exhibit a physically active lifestyle.”

Each Student will be able to:

· Participate and try a variety of different activities and sports outside of school
· Demonstrate and understand different rules for a variety of different activities
· Demonstrate the ability to set personal and group goals for activity and fitness

District 11 Content Standard IV: Students demonstrate competency in team, dual and individual sports.”

Each Student will be able to:

· Transfer rules of the gym to the playground.
· Work in a group setting without interfering with others.

District 11 Content Standard V: “Students demonstrate knowledge necessary to participate in physical activity.”

Each Student will be able to:

· Take turns using a piece of equipment
· Respond to rule infractions when reminded once.

District 11 Content Standard VI: “Students recognize the role of physical activity and the effect it has on their social, emotional, mental and physical development.”

Each Student will be able to:

· Identify, follow and understand safe play.
· Demonstrate sharing and taking turns
