Hi!  My name is Phyllis Campbell and I love being the preschool teacher here at Rudy Elementary!

I have 30 years of experience working in early childhood education.  I graduated from Troy State University , ( Alabama ) in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education.  I earned additional certification in Elementary/Early Childhood Education and my Masters of Education degree in Early Childhood Education from Auburn University ( Alabama ) in 1978.  I have worked with young children from birth – 2nd grade.  I have taught in public and private schools, day care centers and home care programs before coming to work in D-11.  I am beginning my 18th year of work and play with young children in the preschool program in this district.  I have been at Rudy the entire time!

Besides teaching full time, I have co-authored 3 award winning teacher curriculum books.  The books have a science and math focus using music as the central theme.  I work as a consultant, traveling around the country lecturing and conducting teacher and children workshops.  This gives me an opportunity to work on both ends of the teaching spectrum.  It keeps my life interesting (and busy)!

I am a wife and a mother.  My husband, Jim, is in the ice skating business.  (If you need hockey lessons, I know who you can call!)  My son, Sean, is a 23 year old college graduate/starving actor.  He is back at home, so my once empty nest is filling up again.  I love having him back home!  I also have 2 dogs, Mac and Bailey, who are full of energy.  My passion is English horseback riding and I spend as much time as possible on the back of a horse.  (My goal is stay on top!)  I enjoy futzing around in my garden and going to yoga classes 3 times a week.  If you have to work out, it’s pretty fun!

I have much to offer your child but your child has many things to offer me.  I look forward to the smiles, hugs, laughter they bring each day.  They keep me young!  We will learn, grow, sing and dance together.  It will be a fun year!  Join us for circle time!
