Welcome to
Kindergarten!
Hi! My name is Meredith English. I would
like to welcome you and your family to Rudy Elementary. It is a pleasure to be a
part of your child's kindergarten year. Let
me begin by introducing myself.
Who
Am I?
I was born and raised in the good old
mid-west state of Iowa. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a
BA in Early Childhood Education as well as a BA in Elementary Education. In May
of 2006 I complete a Masters degree from Colorado College in Integrated Natural
Sciences. This will be my 7th year of teaching, all of which have
been here at Rudy Elementary.
My
Philosophy
I believe all children come to school
with valuable experiences unique to themselves. I believe all children can
learn. Not all children, however, learn at the same rate or time or even the
same way. Children learn naturally and learn best when they can make choices and
contribute.
In my classroom I strive to meet the
needs of all students by providing both formal and informal activities. In
kindergarten I include experiences and inquiry learning with the state and
district standards. The curriculum is integrated, you will see math, reading,
writing, science, social studies being taught throughout each day.
Overall, kindergarten is a place to
learn about ourselves, the world around us, and to develop a love of learning
and discovery.
