Almost Everything You Wanted to Know
about Our Class
Entering
and Leaving School
It
is school policy for students to use the classroom’s outside door to enter and
exit. Students are to wait to be
picked up by parents at the front entrance of the school. Students eating
breakfast may arrive at school at
7:30 to 7:50
. Due to safety issues, all other
students are to arrive no earlier than
7:50
as there will be no supervision on the playground before this time.
Personal
Objects
Toys
and other materialistic non-school objects, such as Gameboys, Walkmans, trading
cards, and make up, are best left at home. Items
that support our educational program are always welcome.
A good rule is to ask first and remember the school is not responsible
for lost or damaged items.
Birthdays
If
you wish to send birthday treats, please send enough for 25 students.
Sending along plates, napkins, drinks, cups, and already divided
treats help everyone enjoy that special day.
If your student has a summer or vacation birthday, you may choose to
celebrate it the last few weeks of school. Please send no candy or gum.
Class
Parties
We
will celebrate the end of each quarter with a movie and treats.
The day before Christmas and Spring Break, we will have refreshments and
a movie. As party time nears, I will
ask students if they wish to contribute treats for the party. In addition, our
class will be having Halloween and Valentine “gatherings”.
Book
Orders
Book
orders are an inexpensive way to reinforce recreational reading.
Books make great gifts, too. I
will send home catalogs each month. These
book clubs offer excellent values, especially in the software catalog.
Please make checks payable to
the company. Please do not send cash!
Books usually arrive in about 2-3 weeks and generate great excitement.

– School Communication – Assignment Books
Each
student has been supplied with an assignment completion book.
Each day the student will record homework, complete assignments, have a
parent check the homework, then sign the daily block.
If your student doesn’t show you the assignment book, please request to
see it each evening. Each day our
student worker will check to see if the assignment book has been signed.
If the assignment book has been signed all week, the following Monday the
students will be given a treat. There
is space for parent – teacher communication on each block and students have
been asked to show me their books, first thing in the morning, if parents have
written a note to me. If a student does not complete his/her homework he/she
will record and highlight that assignment in their book. Students will have to
the following Monday to complete the assignment for partial credit. In addition,
if you ever have questions, please call me at 328-.

Discipline Plan
Rudy
is a community responsible for educating all students.
Learning is enhanced in a supportive, orderly, and non-treating
environment. Therefore, it is
necessary for all students to respect each other, teachers, Rudy staff, and the
property of others. In an effort to
help children learn to make good, responsible choices when they are faced with
problems, I have implemented the following discipline plan in accordance with
District 11 Code of Conduct:
Level
1:
The student is told to Stop and Think. This
is a warning to the student that his/her behavior is not appropriate and has
made a poor choice.
Level
2:
The student is told to go to the Stop and Think desk for 5 minutes.
After this time, the teacher will remind the student that he/she can make
a good choice or a bad choice and then asks the student for the choice.
The student will complete a behavior report and have his/her parent sign
it and return the report the following day.
Level
3: When
a student decides to make a bad choice or repeatedly says he/she will make a
good choice but acts out a bad choice, the student is sent to the Stop and Think
desk to complete a behavior report to be signed by parent and returned the next
day and will miss recess that day. A Level 1 Behavior Report will be recorded
and student will need to conference with teacher after school.
Level
4: If
a student decides to make a bad choice or tells the teacher he/she plans to make
a good choice but acts out a bad choice, the student moves to Level 4.
Students in Level 4 are sent to the office to meet with the principal.
The principal will review all the good choice options the student had
available at the time he/she made the bad choice.
All students who progress to Level 4 will receive a copy of the
Disciplinary Office Referral.
Our
ultimate goal is for our students to be self-motivated to make good choices.
