Positive Behavior
Support
School-wide Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a multi-tiered proactive
approach for teaching and improving socially acceptable behavior. The
focus of PBS is on prevention rather than the development of
consequences for inappropriate behavior. The PBS integrated approach
clearly identifies systems, practices and data to improve student
behavioral outcomes. It includes a broad range of systemic and
individualized strategies for achieving important social and learning
outcomes while preventing problem behavior with all students.
As of
Fall 2008, School-wide Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is currently
being implemented in 26 School District 11 schools.
