| Date: September 1, 2009 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Ben Fromuth, 328-5648 Colorado Springs School District 11’s Fremont Elementary Students State Winners in the Colorado Stock Market Game Students in Mr. Benjamin Fromuth’s 2008-09 4th grade SAIL class were the elementary school state winners in the Colorado Stock Market Game. They won first, second, and third place in the competition. The class was divided into teams of four students. The teams researched stocks, various industries, and the economy as a whole. Based on this research, they made estimates as to which companies are likely to do well in current economic conditions and invested in them; concepts such as risk vs. reward, buying low - selling high, and “inherent value” factor into student trading decisions. Each team was given $100,000 pretend dollars, a trading account, and two months to make as much money as possible. The team with the most money at the end wins the contest.
