Principal's Message

FROM THE PRINCIPAL:

Isn’t it amazing how quickly a semester of the school year can come to a close! It’s been a great semester as students, staff and community members work together to continue Palmer’s tradition of excellence. December is always a busy month as we end the first semester and approach the holidays. This newsletter has many important dates for you to add to your already packed calendars. Please take note of the final exam schedule on December 17th, 18th and 19th. While students look forward to winter break, it is important that they stay academically focused through the entire semester.

This month members of student government began their participation in the annual “Harvest of Love” food drive sponsored by the Care and Share Food Bank, KRDO News 13, and the Companies Who Care.  Thank you to all students, staff and parents who helped with this effort.

The choice permit window is November 3rd, 2008 – February 1st, 2009. If you’re presently on permit you do not need to re-apply.  If you know of someone interested in attending Palmer on permit, please pass the information on to them.

Palmer had over 2100 conferences October 30th and 894 September 25th for a grand total of 2,994 conferences - the most ever. Communication from family to school is the key to student achievement and I would hope that your questions are being addressed as well as comments on your child’s education. If you have any questions please contact your child’s teacher and/or counselor. On Palmer’s web page www.d11.org/palmer/staff.htm  you can find the staff directory with telephone and email addresses. I encourage each of you to check the web page for updates and things happening at our school.

On behalf of the Palmer community, I want to thank each of you for your support in making this a great semester! I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season. Whether you are spending your time at home or traveling to far off places, have a safe, happy, and restful winter break. I truly enjoy serving as your Principal and look forward to an exciting new year. Thanks for everything you do for Palmer High School.

Warmly,

Tom Kelly
Principal
