Mission Statement

William J. Palmer High School is dedicated to pursuing academic excellence and, in partnership with the community, preparing our diverse population for responsible and productive lives

Vision

We envision a school community in which all individuals actively participate in an ongoing cycle of learning where innovation, action and reflection guide our school’s programs and practices.

Our Values and Assumptions

Our actions demonstrate that we value:

1.         The time and expertise of others

            Assumptions:

·        Time invested in work, communication, and information sharing will be honored by assuring that effective organizational structures with meaningful purposes are in place.

·        The organizational structure must support progress toward the acknowledged vision/mission.

·        Widespread, active engagement in proactive forums extends awareness, generates new approaches and increases ownership of those involved.

·        Professional reflection and solution building is encouraged by interaction through meaningful horizontal and vertical groupings.

2.                            The work and decisions of others

Assumptions:

·        Support for school-wide decisions is each individual’s responsibility.

·        Planning, research, design and recommendations related to school-wide decisions are more effectively accomplished by smaller groups with high interest.

·        Decisions that have narrower impact are made by those closest to the issue with the knowledge of appropriate others.

·        We are all responsible for the results of our individual decisions.

3.                            Leadership and active participation

Assumption:

·        Each individual staff member is professional, proactively engaged in the Palmer Learning Community and accountable for assigned responsibilities.

·        Those who risk leadership and active participation are valued and supported.

4.                            Effective communication

Assumption:

·        Effective communication channels are easily accessible, open, dependable, and used.
