We all belong to each other; we all belong to the world.
(Chamberlin)The Palmer Forensics Team is not officially a club, but a competitive speech and debate team, a member of the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) and the National Forensics League (NFL). From policy debate that addresses one topic all season to public forum that changes current event topics monthly, from original speeches to extemporaneous speaking, and from dramatic interpretations of monologues to humorous duo plays, there’s something in forensics for everyone. If you have the gift of gab and like to compete, or merely want to improve your public speaking abilities, consider joining the Palmer Forensics Team. Oh, and since we’re a CHSAA activity, you can “letter” in forensics too! The season runs September – March, with tournaments mostly on Saturdays. We hold practice after school Wednesdays and Thursdays, 3:10 to 4:10 p.m. www.d11.org/palmer/gt/forensics.htm

(Rachwitz/Lynch-Neveu) PHYCS stands for Palmer High Youth in Community Service Program. It began as part of one of the largest student run philanthropic organizations in the country under the EPYCS title. Palmer Student Council has elected to keep the club running with the initial development and assistance from the El Pomar foundation. Each year Palmer SO will be required to earn enough money to put into the fund, which then will be dispersed to local, state and national non-profit organizations. It is students raising money and donating the money to worthwhile non-profit organizations throughout the community. El Pomar is funding the project for two years as Palmer matches some of the funds, then Palmer will be responsible from 2010 on for providing the funding. The impact we can make is large. The students involved in the project are the board of directors for Palmer; they interview and disperse the money. The good that can be done is immense. Joining expands your horizons as well as those in the community.
(Rewey)Magical Muggles unite! We're always ready to jump on our brooms (bring your own broom) and play a round of Quidditch! It's harder than you think to run around with a broom between your legs, dodging balls, trying to score, and chasing down the snitch. Join us for a magical time!
(MacFarlane, Rossi) We compete in a competition in Spring with all other schools in the region, and in the last several years we have taken 1st place at the regional competition. The competition consists of many “events”, in which teams of two build things like bridges, rockets, boats, cars or planes, answer questions that are usually interesting, do experiments and things like that. This year we are going to take some field trips to look at things like the electron microscope at CC, and some other sciencey stuff. We have a diverse membership, with the usual science nerds, as always, but also athletes, musicians, weirdoes, general students, and just anyone who likes science or building things. We are very laid back and are just a club for people who want to make friends or play around with science or engineering in a competitive and team-like atmosphere. Meets in room 156 during lunches.
