Testing
Counselors, along
with the Assessment Action Team and the school’s Literacy Resource
Teacher (LRT), are instrumental in the testing process that is common in
public schools today. The following is a 2008 list of tests and
approximate times they will be offered:
The
Colorado State ACT:
Wednesday, April 23,
2008 (NO WRITING)
This state mandated test is
administered to all 11th grade students in the spring. The
Colorado ACT is required, but free to students. Scores on this test are
accepted by NCAA Clearing House as well as all military academies.
Students who are looking at colleges or universities who require the
writing portion of this test are advised to take the June ACT with
writing.

The National
Assessment of Educational Progress test also known as the Nation’s
Report Card is the only national assessment that shows what students
across the country know and can do in subjects such as reading and
mathematics. It is different from our state assessments and even the
SAT and ACT because it represents high school students across the
country, not just those here in Colorado or those who want to go to
college. Students are chosen from a random sample of eligible
students. In most schools, the sample will be approximately 60-65
students. Parents are advised by letter if their student is chosen to
take this test.
