Major Assignments and Due Dates for Palmer IB Classes

With comprehensive information about major assignments, we hope that

  • students will manage their time more effectively
  • parents will coach students in prioritizing their school work
  • teachers will coordinate major assignments to improve student achievement

IB students are sometimes enrolled in courses that do not typically correspond to their grade level. For instance, some sophomores (who would find their English, history, and sciences courses in the PalmerIB34 calendar) are in 5/6 classes for foreign language. In those cases, students will need to check two calendars.

Please keep in mind:

Assignments listed on the calendars meet one or both of the following two criteria: 1) They are 'high stakes' assessments with significant impact on classroom grade; 2) Completing them successfully may require time or effort beyond routine homework or out-of-class preparation.

  • These calendars are NOT comprehensive lists of assignments. They do not cover routine homework, shorter term assignments, minor quizzes, etc.
  • Teachers may enter assignments at any time. It will be helpful to get in the habit of checking the calendar regularly for updates.
  • Clicking on a specific assignment in the calendar will bring up a window that provides some details about the assignment. If you have questions please call or e-mail the teacher who entered the assignment.
  • This pilot project will be evaluated during the second semester. We are very interested in your comments. Please e-mail either IB Coordinator with your thoughts: Carolyn Derr (Middle Years – grades 9 and 10) at derrcf@d11.org) or Steve Kern (Diploma – grades 11 and 12), at kernsc@d11.org).
