Welcome to PHS!
General William J. Palmer High School is a modest-sized secondary school located in downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado. The school has a student body of approximately 1800, and attracts enrollment from all over the city. The flagship high school of School District 11, Palmer has the oldest International Baccalaureate (IB) program in the area, founded in 1993. Palmer is located at 301 North Nevada Avenue in Colorado Springs. The present building was built by the Works Progress Administration under Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1940. Originally named Colorado Springs High School, Palmer High School was re-named in 1959 after the city's founder, General William Jackson Palmer.

Becoming WORLDLY-WISE
Join the Springs Chautauqua at Palmer High School for a
provocative, interactive presentation and discussion about global education,
international-mindedness and cultural diversity in the 21st century.
Our
facilitator is Suzanna Jemsby, former principal of the Atlanta International
School (AIS), and recently appointed as Executive Director of the Center for
the Study and Advancement of International Education (CASIE).
An experienced trainer of administrators, school counselors, and teachers,
she has consulted with many schools across the North American region on
issues related to international education. Ms. Jemsby has a master's degree
from Cambridge University (UK) in modern and medieval languages, and
teaching and performance diplomas from the London College of Music. She is
fluent in English, German and French, and also speaks Italian and Swedish.
In addition to her time at AIS, she has served as a language teacher of IB
and Advanced Placement courses and as a university counselor at both the
Frankfurt International School and the Internationale Schule Frankfurt-Rhein-Main.
Of European/Indian ethnicity and mother of two daughters, Ms. Jemsby is also
a free-lance cellist and published author of short stories.
