Dear Families with Special Education Students in D11:

We would like to inform you of access to various new materials and information on the Special Education link of the District 11 web site. If you do not have Internet access, you can check in at the office of your child’s school and they can direct you to a computer to use or they can print out some materials for you. Your local library also offers Internet access.

Following is the link to Colorado Springs School District 11 web site: http://www.cssd11.k12.co.us/

Once you are at the District 11 web site, look through the column of “buttons” down the left side of the screen. Place you cursor over ‘Instruction’ and a secondary screen will come up. Move your cursor to the secondary screen and click on Special Education. You are now on the homepage of the Special Education link.

On the Special Education homepage, you will find a note from our Special Education Executive Director, Dr. Howell, inviting you to join our Special Education Advisory Council. It is your opportunity to give input and make changes in the Special Education department. On the left side of this same page are several links:

Home: Takes you back to the D11 Special Education homepage.

Newsletters: Here you can review past Special Education newsletters. They are listed by quarter/year.

S.E.A.C. (Special Education Advisory Council): Take a look at our Mission and Philosophy statement.

CIMP (Continuous Improvement Monitoring Process): See what we are doing in SEAC/CIMP.

Early Childhood: General information for Child Find and Preschool.

Board Presentation: The information here is updated after each Board of Education meeting.

Online Resources: This will take you to a list of links for various resources at the Colorado Department of Education, information on specific disabilities/national organizations and D11 Board Policy.

Special Education Grants: This area is for D11 schools in Phase 1 and 2 of RTI (Response to Intervention) implementation.

Events: This area will list upcoming events being held in Colorado Springs or other areas, including D11. Due to D11 policy, only ‘free’ events may be listed here. Please check this area frequently as it will be updated continually.

Another resource is on the homepage of the D11 web site. Click on Search Library Catalogs (SIRSI) and you can now look up books, videos and other resource materials to be checked out by yourself or your child. We hope to add even more resources on disabilities, etc.

We hope you find this information useful. Please let us know if there are other items you would like to see on the Special Education link.

Sincerely,

Special Education Advisory Council Members and Staff of D11
