The School District Eleven Board of Education has met the Colorado Department of Education requirements and adopted the first-tier content standards. In order for Mitchell students to meet these new rigorous standards, educators must align students' learning experiences with them. Alignment is the precise match between assessment, standards, and curriculum. The first step in the alignment process is to define benchmarks for the standards. The next step is to provide a comprehensive sequence so that there is a clearly defined progression of skills and knowledge the student is to master as she/he progresses toward the standard.
