Uniform Guide Lines

 

General Uniform Guide Lines     

  1. Keep the uniform clean, neat, and pressed (dry clean the uniform)

  2. Wear the cap outdoors - remove it when indoors

  3. Keep hands out of pockets.

  4. Do not fill pockets with bulky items.

  5. Keep all buttons buttoned.

  6. Keep shoes shined, including the heels and edge of the shoes.

  7. Keep all metal uniform devices such as belt buckles, or insignias clean.

  8. If the uniform does not fit properly, see an instructor.  Do not wear the waist band on your hips.

  9. Check your appearance in the mirror.

  10. Female hair pieces must be the same color as their hair when worn while in uniform.


Male Cadet Guidelines  

Male Standards

Hair- Hair will be clean, neat, and trimmed. It must present a tapered appearance. It must not interfere with the proper wear of issued headgear. The hair must not touch the ears, hang over the collar, or the front of the headband. Sideburns will be trimmed in the same fashion as the hair, and they will not extend below the bottom of the ear opening. Sideburns will end in a straight line, parallel to the ground.

 
Body Piercing- Earrings, nose rings, etc. will not be worn in uniform.

Coat- All buttons must be buttoned. Flat items may be carried in the inside pocket. Nothing will be worn in the outside pockets. The coat MAY be taken off in classrooms if it is folded neatly and placed over the cadet's chair. However, the coat MUST be worn and buttoned in the hallways, cafeteria, and outside the building. Note: shirt MUST be ironed to take off coat.

 
Pants- Trim fitted, with no bunching in the waist or seat. The bottom of the trousers will rest on the front of the shoes with a slight break in the crease.
 
Socks- Black socks must be worn.
 
Shoes- Shoes will be laced and tied. They will be polished (including the heel and sole). Corfam/patent leather shoes are NOT authorized.

General- Keep hair clean, neat, and trimmed, it should present a groomed, tapered appearance. The bulk of the hair must not interfere with the proper wear of any Air Force headgear. Hair must not touch the ears or the collar or protrude below the front band of the headgear. It must not be worn in an extreme or fad style. Sideburns are permitted if they are neatly trimmed and tapered. They should form a clean-shaven, horizontal line at the base and not flare. Sideburns may not extend below the lowest part of the outside ear opening. Male cadets may wear rings (no more than 3) and 1 plain bracelet that is no more than 1 inch wide, does not detract from the military image, and is not a safety hazard.  


Female Cadet Guidelines  

Female Standards

Hair- Must be styled to allow the wear of military headgear and not worn in a style longer than the bottom of the collar edge at the back of the neck. Exafferated styles with excessive fullness or height are not allowed. Hair ornaments must be plain and the same color as, or similar to the cadet's own hair.
 
Body Piercing/Earrings- Pearl, silver, gold, or diamond post only. They must be plain with no design or decoration. One matching set only and they must be worn in the ear lobe only. No other body piercing may be seen in uniform.
 
Fingernails- Nail polish, if worn, must be one color and conservative in color and not contain any ornamentation.
 
Coat- Items will not be carried in pockets. The coat MAY be taken off in classrooms if it is folded neatly and placed over the cadet's chair. However, the coat MUST be worn and buttoned in the hallways, cafeteria, and outside the building. Note: shirt MUST be ironed to take off coat.
 
Slacks- Will fit naturally over the hips with no bunching at the waist or fullness in the seat. Bottom of the slacks should rest on the front of the shoes with a slight break in the crease. Articles carried in the pockets will not present a bulky appearance.
 
Hose/Socks- Commercial sheer, nylon hoses black, off-black, dark blue, dark brown, or neutral that complements the uniform and cadet's skin color. Patterned hose are not allowed. Plain black commercial socks may be worn.
 
Shoes- Shoes will be laced and tied. They should be polished (including the heel and sole). Corfam/patent leather shoes are NOT authorized.

General- Hair should be no longer than the bottom of the collar edge at the back of the neck. It should be styled to permit proper wear of the headgear. This means that the hair should not be too full or high on the head. Hair must not contain too many grooming aids. If pins, combs, barrettes, or similar items are worn, they must be plain and modest in style. Wigs or wiglets worn should conform to regulations that apply to natural hair styles. The skirt should fit smoothly. The skirt length may not vary beyond the top and bottom of the kneecap. Rings, wristwatches, bracelets and small, plain gold, pearl, or silver spherical earrings are the only jewelry you may wear while in uniform. Do not wear more than 3 rings at any one time. Only 1 bracelet may be worn. It must be no wider than 1 inch, not detract from the military image, and not be a safety hazard.
