Booster Club Minutes
February 4,
2008
The meeting was called to
order at approximately 6:07 p.m. Those in attendance were: Sandy Burks, Marcy
Serby, Denice Thanner, Becky Jackson, Deb Thomas, Lori Van Arkel, Charlotte
Morris, Angela Morris, Laura Watts, Laurie Hylle, Sandy
DeCarolis, Joanne Tolbert and new member Margie Reinhard. Brett Williams
arrived late due to a game in the gym.
The January minutes were
accepted by Charlotte Morris and seconded by Laurie Hylle. We began with a
welcome and introductions for the benefit of our newest member, Margie Reinhard,
whom several members already knew from the Concessions Stand and elementary
school. Welcome! Sandy discussed the length of the meetings, saying that she
would try to keep them shorter but because of all that needs to be discussed we
have a lot of business to take care of. She also reminded everyone that all side
conversations must stop, and that will help keep the meetings a little shorter.
Anyone in attendance is free to leave early if they need to.
Old Business:
- Gunther Toody’s – February 7 from 4-9 pm. A free pizza party for the Marauder
class most represented will be offered. Lori has provided flyers and
announcements, and there will be additional flyers at Gunther Toody’s for
those who didn’t bring theirs. Simply put the Marauder teacher in the space
provided.
- Raffle License – It should be on site when we are conducting a raffle, so Sandy
will make a copy of it and Dee Dunkerson will keep the with him when he
sells tickets. Brett will be given the original to keep on file in the
office. She will also look into the best place to keep a copy during
football games. Denice believes Linda’s Games Manager license needs to be
renewed. Sandy will talk to Linda, see if it is due for renewal and if she
wants to renew.
- We have not done
many 50/50’s lately because Linda has chosen not to since they are not
selling very well. She will continue to sell them during games when we
will make money but doesn’t want to “wear out” our customers during slow
nights.
- Concessions – We are hosting Basketball February 16, 23, and March 1 and will
have the Concessions Stand open.
- Laurie Hyall, Laura
Watts will do the morning shift on Feb. 16. Marcy will come in at 11
a.m. and Lori will get someone else to work with her. Marcy or Lori need
to take the Concession $$ with them after the game is over, and Sandy
will get it after she gets back into town.
- Feb. 23 Charlotte
Morris and Deb Thomas will work in the morning.
- Lori will get with
everyone to give them specifics about times.
- Joanne will talk to
Brett about having a sign on the Concessions Stand that says we are not
providing any free items to anyone unless they have an orange card.
- Reminder
– When you are purchasing items (upcoming is
Senior Sports Banquet) that are taken out of the Concessions Line, please
remember to put “Concessions” on the receipt when you give it to Nancy.
- Sandy wrote a letter to
Lida Davidson, from the Peterson Air Force Base Spouse’s Club asking for a
$100 donation to the Booster Club. This was in response to a phone call from
Lida saying Mitchell is their sponsor school. We have not yet received the
money.
Fundraisers
- Chili Dinner – Joanne will head up a chili dinner in the cafeteria in March and
will get with Marcy about a date before Friday so it can be publicized in
the newsletter. She will need several volunteers to help as well as provide
chili. She will contact the coaches to get parent involvement and ask them
to bring a crock-pot of chili.
- Outback Steak House
– Angela was finally able to get with them, and they required so much prep
work on our part that we decided not to do any fundraising with them at this
time.
- Other Restaurants
that do fundraisers are Chick Filet, Red Robin, McDonald’s. If anyone wants
to research another fundraiser they are welcome to bring in to the meeting.
Please call Sandy Burks first to have it added to the agenda.
- Large Toner
Cartridges are no longer being
accepted at the place we send all of our used ink cartridges. Lori has found
that Office Depot will give us $3 off a purchase for every large cartridge.
She will continue to check around for a place that will give us cash, but in
the mean time we will use some of the coupons for photo paper for the Senior
Banquet.
Treasurer:
Denice received a check from
Nancy for $1,094.33, however the notation for the check equaled more than the
amount. It appears that the check does include our Garry Barry Concessions money
in the amount of $675; but it does not appear to include the $5/shirt for 47
shirts that Mr. Cutter took earlier this year. Denice will talk to Nancy to make
sure everything is accurate. She will also talk to Nancy about getting a
Concessions Account Balance before every meeting.
Raffle
Account $ 361.00
Regular Account Beginning Balance $2,858.08
Deposits
341.90
Expenses
(100.00)
Balance as of December 31, 2007 $3,099.98
Concessions Account Balance $8,299.01
New Business:
- The Spring Sports Kick
off is February 21. We will offer 2 slices of Little Caesar’s pizza (cut
into 12 pieces), cookies and a drink for $3 with $1 for each extra slice. We
will start serving at 5:30 and Brett will start talking at approximately
5:45. Charlotte, Joanne, Margie, Laurie Hyall, Sandy, Linda, Lori Van Arkel,
Becky and Dee will help. Anyone who is interested can also come help.
Merchandise:
- Betty was not in
attendance.
- Brett will check with
Mr. Cutter on the payment for the t-shirts he took.
Membership:
We received one new member.
Newsletter:
- The newsletter
will contain at least a date and information about the Chili Dinner if
Marcy receives the information before Friday.
Senior Sports Night:
Almost everyone in
attendance stayed for a discussion of who will do what. The results are listed
below the minutes.
The next meeting will be
Monday, March 3 at 6:00 p.m. in the Marauder Room. The meeting was adjourned at
7:37 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Marcy Serby
Secretary
