Skater Profiles

Michele Kwan:  Born in Torence, California. Her coach is Rafael Arutunian. Her choreographer is Tatiana Tarasova. This magnificent skater took 2nd and 3rd place at the 1998 and 2002 Olympics. She has won the national championships nine years in a row! Kwan has also won the world championships five times. The most interesting fact is Michele played herself on the TV show the Simpson's.

Scott Hamilton: Scott was born in 1958. His hometown is Bowling green, ohio. As a child scott was adopted when he was six weeks old. When he was two he suddenly stopped growing. Doctors were baffled. At one point, he was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and given six months to live. It turned out he had a rare disese. Kids made fun of his size calling him peanut. When he was eight he went to watch his sister skate. He asked if he could begin skating. The next year his disese was gone. Scott atended three high schools a year because his training. His medals and achievements: Four time world and U.s. Champion and an olympic gold medalist.

Kristi YamaGuchi: Kristi Yamaguchi was born July 12, 1971 in Hayward, California, to Jim Yamaguchi, a dentist, and Carole Doi, a medical secretary. A fourth-generation Japanese American, Kristi's grandparents were victims of the United States' anti-Japanese policies during World War II and were sent to an internment camp, where her mother was born. Kristi and her siblings, Brett and Lori, grew up in Fremont, California, where Kristi attended Mission San Jose High School. Yamaguchi began skating as a child, as physical therapy for her club feet.
