KoalaWhere
Project - Global Collaboration
Thinki
the Koala's Visit to Mann Middle School
We got
involved in the
KoalaWhere?
project through THINK.COM because we met friends and teachers from
Australia online who invited us to participate. Thinki was the
name given to a stuffed koala by the children of Montmorency South
Primary School in Australia. These students wanted to help
the
Australian
Koala Foundation save the koalas.
Thinki traveled all over Australia, England, and German before coming to
Colorado in Summer, 2006. All along the way he visited
schools and went home with children who wrote in his journal for him,
stamped his passport, and taught their friends about koalas. He carried
a suitcase full of momentos of the places he stopped and children he
met. He went to Bangalore, India after he left us and finally
landed back in his own hometown near Melbourne sometime in December of
2006.

About Thinki the Koala's Visit to Our Summer School
We have Thinki here in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. I am one of the kids who
took him home and I took a picture with him as well. Thinki is one of
the cuties and the nicest stuffed Koala bears. I know if he goes to
India he will also be another little kid’s best friend. At Mann Middle
School we all have had a wonderful time having Thinki here with us. The
harder we keep trying we will save more and more koalas every day, so
pass this little note to someone else and watch how big of a difference
you can make. From Tia
Here in
Colorado Springs CO, there’s always something to do, but you may have to
look to find it. You can go swimming, hiking, go to a park, the YMCA,
the movies, etc. I love Colorado Springs!
Our country,
the United States of America, is a great big country and is always on
the move and it always has great views. The capital of our state,
Colorado, is Denver. Our (American) football team is the Denver Broncos.
Our soccer (European football) is the Colorado Rapids. Our hockey team
is the Colorado Avalanche. Our baseball team is the Colorado Rockies.

Thinki has
been here in Colorado in Mann’s Summer School in School District 11.
(Summer School is very small because most kids are on vacation at this
time.) Our school is great and friendly. The teachers here will help
students when needed. Thinki has been all over the school having his
picture taken. When you get Thinki I hope you have a great time with
him. Sincerely, Shaleel and Maddi
Thinki, I
hope you had fun visiting Mann Middle School because I had fun taking
you home to my house. Also I hope you won’t forget our class and Mrs.
Shanks. Have fun on your other journeys across the world! Sincerely,
Danielle
