During the months of June-August 2003, the Standards-based Report card was revised with the assistance of parent groups. The intent was to make it more meaningful to parents and useful in understanding a student’s level of performance.

The purpose of this information is to provide parents with a brief explanation of what to expect when looking at student work as it comes home.

These charts are intended to give parents information that will help them track their student’s progress throughout the quarter. Teachers will choose which marks to use ( A, %, 5) to communicate student progress to parents.

The following formula will be used to guide teachers in determining a student’s quarterly scores on the standards section of the report card. Teachers will base their decisions on a student’s most recent scores and highest scores when reporting the level of performance for the report card.

* Teachers using percentages would need to convert to a rubric score for overall marking score.

The above information is taken from the CSSD11 Standards-based Reporting Handbook.
