  • Battle of the Books - list of this year's Battle of the Books titles
  • Big Six - overall view of the the research process.  See the Research Guide Page  for more specific information.
  • Citation Machine - A web site designed to help you format your bibliographic entries.  Enter the information from your source and the Citation Machine produces the bibliographic entry in the required format, ready to cut and paste into your document.
  • Colorado Information Literacy Standards - What students need to do and know to be information literate
  • Colorado State Government Internet Resources- A list published by the State Publications Library  for educators and students.
  • EBSCO Search - Reference, research and periodicals. Also available at Pikes Peak Library District e-reference section
  • Grolier's Encyclopedia On-Line - Log on and gain access to all of Grolier's on-line products - Encyclopedia Americana, Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia, New Book of Knowledge, nueva enciclopedia Cumbreen linea, New Book of Popular Science, and Lands and Peoples.   • Newseum - The world's first interactive museum of news. Read today's headlines from more than 300 U.S. and international newspaper front pages.
  • News Bank - Periodical articles cover social, economic, environmental, government, sports, people, the arts, health, and science issues and events as well as articles exploring civics, culture, environment, government, sports, people, health, and science. Sources: U.S. regional and national newspapers, wire services, transcripts, broadcasts, and magazines for middle school students 1992 to current.
  • Pikes Peak Library District - Log-on to the Pikes Peak Library District web site.  Search, check out books, requests holds, use the Electronic Reference section (home to dozens of databases)  etc.  All you need is your library card number. Great place to go from home to access research databases.
  • Pinpoint  - Access many of our databases at once!  This will also access a number of Internet web sites at the same time and return a list of potential information gleaned from many different sources with only one search.
  • Research Guide Page - Many things about research you wanted to know but didn't know where to find it! Find note taking ideas, bibliography formats, Big 6 planner, research glossary, plagiarism and copy write guidelines, a research process guideline and more.
  • Research Warm-Up: A Scavenger Hunt - Try out your research skills with this short scavenger hunt.  Use a mixture of reference books and the Internet to find the answers to the question.  come up with the correct answer and bring the finished hunt to the library for something special
  • Search Engines - try out some of these search engines if you really need to utilize the Internet.  Lots more bang for your searching buck with these sites!
  • SIRS Discoverer - Great research resource.  Reading levels of articles are indicated.  Articles can be e-mailed to your personal address at home.
