Vocal Music

Vocal Music is taught by Mr. Peckham

The vocal music department at Jenkins Middle School is experiencing a steady growth as it develops into one of the finest, and busiest, vocal departments in the region. The classes offered consist of 6th Grade Preparatory Choir, 7th Grade Intermediate Choir, 8th Grade Chamber Choir, and Show Choir. The 6th graders take choir for nine weeks, and present a concert at the end of each quarter to show their progress as the result of their work in class. 7th graders have choir for one semester, with the option to sign up for the full year, and they present several programs throughout the year. 8th graders take Chamber Choir for the full year, present several programs throughout the year, and will do at least one tour regionally this year. Show Choir is the busiest, singing at sporting events, festivals, tours, and concerts throughout the year. 7th, 8th, and Show Choirs also participate in large group festival. We also have many individual students who participate in the solo and ensemble festival, and sing throughout the region. The Vocal department at Jenkins is proud of the many talented students that participate, and the steady support of parents and the community.
