Keyboarding

In Keyboarding, students learn all the home keys and using their fingers efficiently to type.  They also work on their keyboarding speed.  Students work on this for the first 15-20 minutes of class.  After that, students work on projects using the programs on the computer. 
   
They will work on a timeline, a character web, a family tree, a table of classes, an acrostic poem using columns, a slide show presentation with animation, and a newsletter.

Programs:  Timeliner, Inspiration, MicroSoft Word, Student Writing Center
, and Hyperstudio.

  All students learn how to retrieve, save, and send assignments on the network. At the end of the quarter they take home a portfolio of all their printed projects.

Computers I

Students must have already taken Keyboarding before signing up for this class.  Students will be expected to know the keyboard keys and will work on increasing typing speed and accuracy.  All the basics taught in Keyboarding are a must before taking Computers I.

They will work on more advanced assignments including a 3-part brochure and some creative writing with cartoon clips using Microsoft Word; several research webs using the Internet on Inspiration, a slide show presentation on PowerPoint.

Students will use PhotoShop to create picture projects and create a photo calendar.

Computers II

Students must have taken Keyboarding and Computers I before signing up for this class.

Students will work on several advanced PowerPoint presentations.  They will add special effects and add sound to their presentations.  Students will also work on EXCEL survey projects to create graphs and charts. Students will work with PhotoShop to manipulate pictures into different projects.
