Jenkins offers a variety of Art classes.

    6th, 7th, 8th - INTRODUCTION TO THE VISUAL ARTS is a beginning art class offered to all grade level students. Students are introduced to the elements of design through the mediums of drawing, painting, and printmaking. The cultural and appreciative aspects of art are incorporated into the course through various instructional resources and art production experiences. This class may only be taken once.

     7th – ENCOUNTER WITH THE VISUAL ART provides students with opportunities to explore and experiment with more advanced techniques in drawing, painting and printmaking. Use of these techniques will emphasize creative solutions to design problems in both two and three dimensional works of art. Cultural and appreciative aspects of art will be incorporated into the course through art criticism, art history, and aesthetics.

    7th – FOUNDATIONS IN DESIGN continues the study of the elements and principles of design as they are found in all visual works of art. The areas of emphasis in this course include ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media. Art history, production, criticism, and aesthetics are integrated into course content through various instructional resources and education experiences.

    8th - INTERMEDIATE DESIGN is a continuation of the techniques and problem solving processes which students experience in the basic art courses. The emphasis of art production include ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media. The art-making component of this course will be integrated with the cultural and appreciative aspects (art criticism, art history, and    aesthetics).

    8th – EXPANDING THE VISUAL ARTS is a course designed for the student who has studied more complex techniques and processes in art production. Students will select and create two and three dimensional art work from the areas of painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, or other vehicles of expression. The cultural and appreciative aspects of art will be incorporated through art criticism, art history, and aesthetics.
