Dear Jenkins Parents and Students,

Welcome the School Year 2009/2010.  We are excited to get going this year and look forward to continued support from our great community.  Jenkins will be continuing the Positive Behavior Support Program again this school year to recognize our great kids on a daily basis.  Once again, rewards are available to be earned through our student store, in the classroom and during lunch.  If you would be interested in viewing the PBS video the kids have seen, please stop by the office.

We have two brand new opportunities for kids in the exploratory realm this year.  We have added a 3-D art class on our Mac lab that also incorporates digital photography.  We also have the good fortune to be offering drama this year as an outlet for many of our students’ creative expression.

MAP testing will begin on September 14^th this year.  It is a computerized test that we use to find where our students are at and help them achieve their very best.  We will use this information with our new and improved Response to Intervention system truly find out how we can best meet students’ needs.

Our sports seasons are off and running.  Girl's track is practicing after school now and so is Boy’s football.  Wrestling will begin very quickly as well.  We have a number of intramurals getting ready to start.  From Ultimate Frisbee to Flag Football, we should have a lot of fun. 

I am looking forward to another great year at Jenkins and I am very excited about our great kids and community.
