JETS’ NEWS!

Dear Parents and Community Members,

As the first semester comes to a close our students have truly been engaged in learning and are soaring high. Jefferson’s School Accountability Report Card which states that we are Average and Stable in regards to CSAP scores from last March will be sent home December 14.

As of today students in Grades 2 - 5 have completed their 1st Quarter Assessments and scored 60% or above in reading and math.  Students are charting their individual progress and are being recognized for their academic and behavioral achievements at our school-wide assemblies and in their classrooms.

In addition, students have displayed their artwork at Tesla, East Library, the Air Force Academy and other locations around our city. They have been involved in collaborative art/technology research activities, writing workshops, music programs, counseling support groups and expanded tutorial support services throughout the school day.  Furthermore students have participated in extracurricular activities that included sports challenge, sign club, and storytelling. Our Student Council has sponsored numerous fun Friday dress-up days and our 3rd “Bring Your Parent to Lunch” Day is Friday the 16th of December. Finally, please stop by and read our children’s thoughts on the “Kindness Tree” located outside the main office.

As I’ve said in the past, “It takes a village to raise our children”.  Our mission continues to focus on the needs of the whole child.  I appreciate all you have done in supporting the academic and emotional success of our children as part of our 3-legged stool concept; parent/student/staff.  As the year ends I look forward to continuing our partnership in ensuring our students’ success.

Respectfully,

Theresa Newsom, Principal
