The goal of the science department is:

An average of 55% of Irving Middle School 8th grade will score at the Proficient or Advanced levels for the 2008 Science CSAP. This represents an average increase of 10% over 2007 results.

The data this team will analyze to make sure student achievement is attained is:

1. Focus on the standard areas that were below proficiency for the class of 2007 CSAP students. While this data is truly measuring the previous 8th grade, the science team can look at areas of concern review those strands of content before the testing for the 2008 CSAP.

2. Teachers will collect data on their present students from the first semester final approved by Dr. Gromko for each grade level and keep an accounting of the short cycle test performance of each science class by standard.

Unfortunately, Alpine does not provide collective student data on the 5th grade science CSAP.
